Die Rolle der Akupunktur in der Behandlung von Krebs
Kongress: TCM Kongress 2008 - 39. This lecture will look at the challenges acupuncturists are faced when treating patients with cancer. We will start by looking at what cancer is, both in the Western and the TCM paradigm, as well as examining the role of the emotions in the development of cancer. We will discuss what acupuncture and TCM can contribute in the treatment of cancer, with particular reference to slowing down tumour growth and to counteracting the side effects of chemo- and radiotherapy. This will be followed by the introduction of a simple and effective treatment protocol I have developed, where the patient uses daily moxa to combat bone marrow depression (the drop of red & white blood cells) during chemotherapy. If time permits we can look at individual cancers and their aetiology and pathology in TCM terms. The lecture concludes with a few case histories chosen to show both the strengths and the limitations of acupuncture and moxibustion in the treatment of cancer. My aim is to encourage acupuncturists to participate in the fight against cancer without being unrealistic and over-confident about the treatment outcome. | ||
